Updated for 2020: Project Management and the RIBA Plan of Work

Anyone working in construction based Project Management in the UK will have heard of the RIBA Plan of Work. RIBA is the Royal Institute of British Architects and over the years they have developed an invaluable set of guidelines which organises the process of managing and designing building projects and administering building contracts. The Plan of Work breaks down the processes required into a set of simple and easy to understand workstages from Stage 1 (Brief) to Stage 7 (Post Practical Completion). Nearly all projects in the UK are developed using this set of guidelines and for the Project Manager they are an excellent management tool (if used in conjunction with a range of other process and techniques). Updated APM Qualifications Launched

Association for Project Management (APM) has updated two of its core qualifications by aligning them with the APM Body of Knowledge 7th edition, ensuring project professionals benefit from the latest information as they develop their careers. This update brings both the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) and APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) in line with the latest thinking and knowledge from across the profession. The alignment welcomes new topics to the syllabus including hybrid and iterative lifecycles, while continuing to ensure candidates for both qualifications gain the core knowledge required at their respective levels which will fundamentally underpin their role as a project professional. Both qualifications maintain the same rigour, standard and assessment. COVID19 - Site Operating Procedures

The UK Government has confirmed that construction sites can resume work during the COVID19 pandemic. In order to operate safely, the Construction Leadership Council has published detailed Site Operating Procedures.
